Teaching & Mentoring Experience
Mentoring Experience:
I currently mentor five graduate students: one at the University of Vermont and four at West Virginia University. I meet with each student at least once a week to discuss study ideas, research progress, and professional issues. My mentorship style is hands-on (lots of meetings, revisions, and emails). I love working with students who are passionate about clinical science and enjoy doing research. I encourage my students to come up with their own study ideas, and to also help with studies currently going on in the lab.
My graduate students and I mentor between 3-15 undergraduate research assessments each semester. Graduate students meet with students weekly to help them develop skills relevant to research design, literature reviews, selection and creation of materials, presentation of research, and ethics consideration. We meet as a full lab on Friday mornings at 8am to discuss ongoing lab projects and to discuss relevant research articles.
